On the scene, not only did Zhou Guoping, former member of SASAC, former chairman of China aneng and secretary of the Party committee, give a speech, but also invited the former chairman of State Power Investment, qian Zhimin, secretary of the party group, and Ling Wen, general manager of the National Energy Group, respectively delivered speeches and reports on energy storage and hydrogen energy, especially Qian Zhimin's theme sharing entitled "New energy and energy storage, it is not only one of its few public speeches, but also focuses directly on the growth trend of energy storage's future development demand, attracting wide attention from the industry.

Qian Zhimin pointed out that the new energy development plan issued by the state in 2007 proposed the goal to achieve 31.8 million kilowatts of new energy installed capacity by 2020, but in the end it actually reached 5352.1 billion kilowatts, which was 17 times of the planned target. At present, China's energy storage is also following this development route. China's new energy storage installed capacity has increased rapidly from 80000 kilowatts in 2014 to 31.39 million kilowatts in 2023, while according to the forecast, it is expected to reach 313.86 million kilowatts in 2030. Qian Zhimin said that whether energy storage can reach or even far higher than this expectation in the future depends on the efforts of the industry and the promotion of energy storage industry by one of the four revolutions, namely the consumer side revolution, supply-side revolution, scientific and technological revolution, system and mechanism revolution, and international cooperation.

Qian Zhimin pointed out that the installed capacity of new energy has increased from 820000 kilowatts in 2004 to 1.2 billion kilowatts in July this year, which has been 1470 times that of the previous 20 years. At the same time, new energy installed capacity in the world accounted for only 1.6 percent, to 43 percent last year, becoming half of the world. It is estimated that the total installed capacity of new energy will exceed 1.3 billion kilowatts this year. By 2030, the installed capacity of new energy will reach 2.7 billion kilowatts, and by 2060, the carbon neutralization will be 6 billion kilowatts.KW. Qian Zhimin said that to achieve this number, the most important influencing factor is energy storage. In the future, energy storage needs to support the new energy to continue to grow rapidly. He pointed out that energy storage is widely used in supply side, power supply, transmission field and user field. In the P2X field called "green oil and gas", energy storage will also achieve greater development in the future, that is, various products such as Green alcohol and green ammonia based on hydrogen made of new energy, to replace the application of oil and natural gas, it needs to be realized through new energy + energy storage, which provides a huge application scenario for energy storage.

From the supply side, China is currently implementing site development new energy sources in desert, wasteland, Gobi and other regions. Each project is 10 million kilowatts. In order to ensure the smooth transmission of such large-scale new energy in the power grid, in fact, the large base is also equipped with a lot of coal electricity, but if we want to achieve carbon peaks and carbon neutralization, coal electricity is not sustainable. Only energy storage can meet the construction needs of the new energy base.

On the other hand, if photovoltaic and wind power are not supported by energy storage, the above-mentioned green hydrogen is difficult to realize, and it is difficult to support the application of green hydrogen as basic products in petrochemical, electric power, transportation, steel and nonferrous industries. In addition, with the development of green energy in the future, many industrial factories on the user side also need energy storage, especially in the rapidly developing information and big data fields, the rapid growth of AI's power demand will drive the development of energy storage, and energy storage on the user side is promising.

In terms of technology, scientific and technological innovation is the main driving force to promote the development of energy storage. Qian Zhimin expects more scientific and technological innovations to promote the development of energy storage industry in the future, especially in the field of electrochemical energy storage, lithium ion batteries and other new battery technologies will play an important role.

In terms of system and mechanism, the demand for energy storage comes from electricity price mechanism on the one hand and carbon market on the other hand.

At present, more than 80% of household energy storage in China is sold to Europe, mainly because there is no price difference between peak and valley for household electricity in China, which has no driving force for the development of energy storage. In the past three years, China's industrial electricity price has averaged about 0.64 yuan per degree of electricity, and the highest electricity price in domestic history is 2.3 yuan for electricity in stock transactions. The highest electricity price in the United States reached 63 yuan, and the highest electricity price in Germany reached 22 yuan. Qian Zhimin believes that if the price difference between China's peak and valley electricity is widened, it will strongly promote the reserve.The development of energy can effectively promote the development of green and low-carbon industries.

China is already the world's largest market for carbon coverage, currently covering 5.1 billion tons and the EU covering 1.68 billion tons. However, China's carbon trading volume is only about 0.2 billion tons, while the EU is about 7.8 billion tons. This is because China's carbon trading subject is 2257 power generation enterprises included in the scope of carbon trading, while the EU has higher activity in the auction market and the secondary market besides the market subject included. For example, the turnover rate of carbon trading in China is 4.16, while that in the EU reaches 515. Last year, the average transaction price in China was 68 yuan, that in the EU was 85.17 yuan, and that once exceeded 100 euros (600 yuan). Last year, the carbon trading volume was 14.4 billion yuan, and the EU was about 6 trillion yuan. Qian Zhimin said that if the trading price, turnover rate and trading subject of China's carbon market develop to the level of EU, then the total contract value will be about 18 trillion RMB and 2600 billion USD, it is equivalent to twice the global crude oil transaction volume of 1300 billion dollars last year. Qian Zhimin said that such a huge carbon market will also give a great impetus to energy storage. "when the price of carbon rises, the value of energy storage will come." To this end, he put forward suggestions that the country should seriously discuss and plan to provide good expectations for all production and operation units of energy storage to promote the development of energy storage industry.

In terms of international cooperation, Qian Zhimin made an analogy with photovoltaic, pointing out that the contribution rate of China's new energy in the field of new energy does not match the global capacity layout. For example, the First Solar capacity is more than 1600 kilowatts, and 64 percent of its production base capacity is distributed outside the United States; Hanhua's new energy capacity is more than 1300 kilowatts, and 67 percent is outside South Korea; however, the overseas production capacity of China's three largest new energy enterprises is only 6%. Qian Zhimin suggested that China's energy storage should consider this factor at the beginning of its development, so that our country's energy storage industry can make a good global layout, so that energy storage will have a huge space for global development in the future.

Industrial and Commercial storage, how to be "big" and wise?
